Paul isn't on call today, so he was very kind to offer us a ride and come with us to the Karura Forest.
A little bit on Paul: He is William's friend from fifth grade, and we are staying at his place in Nairobi before leaving to Kisumu. Paul is a orthopedic doctor at the Kenyatta National Hospital, so we live right by the hospital. There are three rooms in his apartment, Paul stays in one, and his roommate David, also a doctor at the same hospital, stays in the other. The third room is a guest room which is where I am staying in. William was very kind to let me stay in this room while he is sleeping in the living room couch.
Entry fee for Karura Forest is $600 shillings for foreigners and $100 for locals. You had to pay to buy a map, so William just took a picture of the map that was shown by the entrance.
The Waterfall
There were some musicians at the waterfall, taking photos with their instruments. I think it was for their album!
The Cave
We ran into a giant ant trail on the way. They've built their own borders! And a lot faster than Trump.
Two Rivers Mall
Looks pretty much like a fancy high-end mall you'd find in the US. The only difference is they have security check-in points at the entrance. There was a recent terrorist attack in one of the major malls in Nairobi, so since then they have placed security check point at every mall/grocery shops. It's pretty much exactly the same as what you see at the airport borders, except most don't have the X-ray scanner for bags.
The view was quite amazing. We ate lunch there. The waffle tasted quite good!
