Time to Work

April 11, 2017
Since we have decided to just go for a simple bunk bed, I just spend most of the morning planning out the cut-list and how we will build it.

William called an electrician to take a look at the wood planar.  It turns out there was problem with the capacitor and it needed to be replaced.  There was also a problem with the knob and something else.  So, we all went into the car and drove to town (Kisumu) which is about 45 minutes away.

Our first stop was at an auto shop.  It was so interesting to see, they really don’t have standard parts here.  Most of the parts you see looks like they were found in scraps, so I guess you’d just sort out which one might possibly work for what you need.

The second stop was at an electronic shop.  This one seemed a lot more organized.  While the electrician was getting his capacitor, we went across the street to buy some screws for the bunk bed.  William got some nuts and bolts here.  He said he will use them to install the bed frame to the legs.  I wasn’t sure exactly how they would be used, but it looks like he has a plan in mind.

Our third stop was Nakumatt, William needed to refill his MPesa (the system of paying through phone), and I needed to buy some blue pens for my building plans.
The last stop was the gas station.  We filled up a gas barrel (this is for use in the kitchen stoves) Making payments is so easy here.  You just enter the vendor number on your phone, and you can pay them instantly.

We went back home, the electrician installed the new parts.  And finally the wood planar is up and running!  It was dark by the time he finished, so we will start work tomorrow.
Here are the views on our way back.
Beautiful sunset
The cows are also going home!
